The lagoon city of Venice, Italy
There are many good reasons to visit Venice, one of the most beautiful and unique cities in the world.
First and foremost, Venice is built on a series of small islands in a lagoon, and the city’s stunning architecture and landmarks are inextricably linked to its history as a seafaring and trading power. Visitors can explore the winding canals, picturesque bridges and breathtaking piazzas, taking in such famous sights as St. Mark’s Basilica, the Doge’s Palace and the Rialto Bridge.
In addition to its historical and architectural splendor, Venice is also known for its culture, art and cuisine. The city is home to a variety of museums, galleries and venues that showcase the works of legendary artists such as Titian, Tintoretto and Canaletto. Visitors can also sample the city’s famous seafood dishes and enjoy local wines and other specialties.
Venice may not be the cheapest city in Italy, but it has an atmosphere and charm worth experiencing, even if it is only for a day. Strolling through the streets of the lagoon city, riding comfortably in a gondola on the Gran Canale, or visiting the old Jewish ghetto are adventures that will make your stay in Venice special.
During the carnival season you can even plan a visit during the famous Venice Carnival. There is nothing more extraordinary in Venice than experiencing this world famous festival. Grab a Venetian mask and take part in the lively masquerade madness!
On this blog I want to share with you all my experiences, my tips and flops from my many stays in Venice. I love Venice and am happy to share this passion with you and the other readers.
