    The great exhibition of Vittore Carpaccio in Venice is coming to the Doge’s Palace.

    The retrospective Vittore Carpaccio in Venice opens on 18 March and will be on show until 18 June. The exhibition is curated by Peter Humfrey, a specialist on the painter and his environment, in collaboration with Andrea Bellieni, member of the board of directors of the Musei Civici di Venezia and director of the Correr Museum, and Gretchen Hirschauer, curator of Italian and Spanish painting at the National Gallery of Art in Washington.

    With this magnificent exhibition, based on discoveries and new attributions, as well as extraordinarily revealing restorations, we can offer the public and scholars an updated historical-critical reinterpretation of Carpaccio’s painting and its evolution, from the beginnings to the late works, which are usually neglected by critics.

    Among the many events that take place in April in Venice, the most important are Easter Sunday, when it falls in this month, and on April 25th in Venice. In this case it is a double celebration!

    Easter – La Santa Pasqua

    Apart from the gastronomic aspect, there is another peculiarity about San Marco that not everyone knows: during the reign of the Serenissima, the 31st of January, commemorating the return of the relics to Venice, and the 25th of June, the date of the discovery of the place where the relics were hidden in 1094, were also dedicated to the saint.

    April 25th in Venice is not only the feast day of the patron saint of Venice, St Mark, but also the day when young Venetian lovers give their “sweetheart” a rosebud. So much for Valentine’s Day!

    The patron saint of Venice is St Mark, whose feast day is celebrated every year on April 25th. This day is known as “Festa di San Marco” (St Mark’s Day) and is an important holiday in Venice. The day is celebrated with church services, processions and other festivities throughout the city to commemorate the date of the discovery of the site where the relics were hidden in 1094.

    St Mark’s Day in Venice is one of the most important events in the city, an ancient tradition linked to the historic transfer of the remains of St Mark, the city’s patron saint of Venice, to the Serenissima, which took place on 31 January.

    Saint Mark is an important figure in the history and culture of Venice, being the patron saint of Venice and the symbol of Venetian identity. The famous St Mark’s Basilica in Venice is dedicated to him and his image can be found throughout the city in various forms of art and architecture.

    It is said that this custom has its origins in a legend: in the nineteenth century, a blonde girl called Maria, daughter of the future Doge Angelo Partecipazio, fell in love with the very brave and handsome troubadour Tancredi. The feelings of the two young people were rejected by their father, who would not allow such a marriage.

    The girl took the rose, still stained with her Tancredi’s blood, and endured her grief. The next day, the feast of St Mark, she was found dead with the bloody flower on her heart. Since then, the rosebud, symbol of love open to life and the sun, is offered to women on St Mark’s Day.

    The “Sundays in the Museum” initiative provides free entry to all State museums and archaeological sites for all citizens on the first Sunday of every month.

    In addition, the initiative provides admission to all municipal museums for free in Venice that are part of the “Sistema Musei in Comune”. Previously this was only available to residents of the city, but now tourists can also benefit from free entry to the city’s museums.

    Now that everything is clear, here are my personal tips on how to spend a special Sunday full of culture and discover wonderful places without spending a single euro.

    Since the “Sundays at the Museum” initiative has been very successful, it is very likely that the museums will be besieged by locals and tourists and you may have to wait in line for a long time before you can get in.

    The museum is housed in the Scuola Grande della Carità, a former charitable institution that was converted into an art gallery in the early 19th century.     Concordia Sagittaria, archaeological area beneath the Cathedral

    Concordia Sagittaria is an archaeological site located about 50 kilometres north-east of Venice. It is located below the present day Cathedral of Santa Maria Assunta in the town of Concordia Sagittaria.

    Der Ort war ursprünglich eine antike römische Stadt, die im 1. Jahrhundert n. Chr. gegründet wurde und ein wichtiges Zentrum für Handel und Gewerbe war. Im Laufe der Jahrhunderte wurde sie von verschiedenen Invasionsmächten erobert, darunter die Langobarden und die Franken, bevor sie von den Venezianern im 16.

    Die archäologische Stätte beherbergt die Überreste antiker römischer Bauwerke, wie ein Theater, ein Amphitheater, ein Forum und eine Basilika. Besucher können auch die Überreste mittelalterlicher Gebäude sehen, darunter ein Baptisterium, eine Krypta und die Fundamente der Kathedrale.

    Was wird am 25. April in Venedig gefeiert?

    Dass die Venezianer Frauenhelden sind, ist hinlänglich bekannt. Casanovas Ruhm eilt uns ein wenig voraus, aber wir wissen, wie man genauso romantisch ist, und deshalb erzähle ich dir heute von einem Fest, das ich sehr mag: die Festa del Boccolo (Bocolo) am 25. April in Venedig.

    Der 25. April in Venedig ist nicht nur der Festtag des Schutzpatrons, des heiligen Markus, sondern auch der Tag, an dem junge venezianische Verliebte ihrer “Liebsten” eine Rosenknospe schenken. So viel zum Valentinstag!

    Markusfest

    Der Schutzpatron von Venedig ist der Heilige Markus, dessen Festtag jedes Jahr am 25. April gefeiert wird. Dieser Tag ist als “Festa di San Marco” (Fest des Heiligen Markus) bekannt und ist ein wichtiger Feiertag in Venedig. Der Tag wird mit Gottesdiensten, Prozessionen und anderen Festivitäten in der ganzen Stadt gefeiert, zum Gedenken an das Datum der Entdeckung des Ortes, an dem die Reliquien 1094 versteckt worden waren.

    Der Markustag in Venedig ist eines der wichtigsten Ereignisse in der Stadt, eine alte Tradition, die mit der historischen Überführung der sterblichen Überreste des Heiligen Markus, des Schutzpatrons der Stadt, in die Serenissima verbunden ist, die am 31. Januar stattfanden.

    Der Heilige Markus ist eine wichtige Figur in der venezianischen Geschichte und Kultur, denn er ist der Schutzpatron der Stadt und das Symbol der venezianischen Identität. Der berühmte Markusdom in Venedig ist ihm gewidmet, und sein Bildnis findet sich überall in der Stadt in verschiedenen Formen von Kunst und Architektur.

    Dies ist eine Tradition, die mit dem Markustag zusammenhängt: Das Festa del Bocolo besteht aus dem Brauch, der Geliebten am Markustag eine Rosenknospe zu schenken.

    Dies ist das Patronatsfest von Venedig, das zum Gedenken an den heiligen Evangelisten Markus gefeiert wird. In unserer Stadt ist es Brauch, dass die Männer den Frauen der Familie eine rote Rosenknospe schenken, im Dialekt bòccolo: mindestens eine Rose pro Jahr!

    Dieser Brauch, so heißt es, geht auf eine Legende zurück: Um das 19. Jahrhundert verliebte sich ein blondes Mädchen namens Maria, Tochter des künftigen Dogen Angelo Partecipazio, in den sehr tapferen und gut aussehenden Troubadour Tancredi. Die Gefühle der beiden jungen Leute wurden von ihrem Vater abgelehnt, der eine solche Heirat nicht zulassen wollte.

    Maria bat Tancredi, mit dem Heer Karls des Großen gegen die Araber in Spanien zu kämpfen und sich mit Ruhm zu bekleiden, damit ihr Vater sich ihrer Liebe nicht länger widersetzen würde. Tancredi brach auf, und der Ruhm seiner glorreichen Taten verbreitete sich bald in der ganzen Welt.

    Eines Tages jedoch kamen fränkische Ritter unter der Führung des berühmten Orlando nach Venedig, suchten Maria auf und verkündeten den Tod des tapferen Troubadours. Er war in Roncesvalles blutend auf einen Rosenbusch gefallen, doch bevor er starb, pflückte er eine Blume und bat Orlando, sie seiner Geliebten zu bringen.

    Das Mädchen nahm die Rose, die noch immer mit dem Blut ihres Tancredi befleckt war, und verharrte in ihrem Kummer. Am nächsten Tag, dem Fest des Heiligen Markus, wurde sie tot aufgefunden, mit der blutigen Blume auf ihrem Herzen. Seitdem wird die Rosenknospe, Symbol der Liebe, die sich dem Leben und der Sonne öffnet, den Frauen am Markustag angeboten.
